here's some updates from the mathew mail

Caricature Drawing made RM800 net profit.
Treasurer reports that so far we have roughly RM10,000 in total. They have yet to add the money coming from the sponsors although the figure has not been negotiated yet.
The three presidents and Stephen Poon talked with each other and Steven said that if we used the One Gallery, we DON’T have to launch on 14th August, just that we can do whatever we want after that date.
So the Committee feels that this is a better decision since because the fact that beforehand, we thought if we used the One Gallery, we wouldn’t have time to get everything sorted, but now that we are able to still go ahead with the same.
Quite a number people do not know where MAPS KL is, so it’s easier to access The One Gallery.
Launching date finalized to be 17th August 2010. Opening ceremony will happen in the Audio Visual Hall and the exhibition in The One Gallery.
According to the Marketing Team, the size should be adequate for 109 people showing their work. DG and MM will be showing theirs on Digital while the rest I think is on the board on the wall and hanging etc.
We got a confirmed sponsorship on monetary sponsors. We will most probably get a big figure, according to Marketing Team, around RM10,000 but the sponsor has to talk with his/her business partner first before getting back to the Marketing Dept.
Invitation card will be a folded box. When the person unfolds it, the information within is given to them.
Confirmed there are 60 people on the VIP list, so the invitation cards will go out to them.

MAPS KL is still our main gallery. The date is considered to be 24th August = 31st August but will subject to change. I'll let you know when they plan to change the date.
Another thing is that the Marketing Dept. has gotten a monetary sponsorship from a company that's willing to give us RM25,000 in ONE CONDITION. That condition is that we have to do a separate viral campaign for their product, which is Odor Removal. Problem is that we would have to spend a lot of time on this and we are tight on schedule. The Marketing Team are going to meet the sponsor this week and hopefully there is an alternative deal.
We still have our printing and publishing sponsorships though but still pushing for more.
Photography team is finishing up photo-shooting, going to be editing the pictures for the booklet soon.
Concerning about our fundraising and events. Coming from the President, our events are failing because the promotion is failing.
So I think we, DG78-1, will need to really help with the promotion. I don't know about other classes but we should start promoting events, even if it means doing it ourselves, creating pamphlets ourselves. Actually we were strongly told to promote the events in any way we can.
So what I suggest is that we do our own pamphlets of the events and we will hand them out to everyone in college. ( we can use cheap A4 paper to avoid costs ). I will need you guys to promise me to help pass these pamphlets. we really need to make event promotion a success.
Ruzanna's costume team seems to be made of very little people. I would strongly suggest those of who you are not appointed to a division to help her out with the pixel costume and also the viral video. You can contact her number - 012-656 4029.
Art direction has come up with mock-up invitation cards and viral cards and so far it looks good. I'll see if I can get some photos from the Photography Department to give me the photos of the mock-up art.
Our Pixels 78 website is underway and in progress. It will be uploaded after we finish our first shooting of the viral video.
DTP presented their layout of the booklet and so far no problems, just deciding on how many pages we need for sponsors since we haven't finished collecting sponsorship.

acg week in the gallery last wednesday was the tournament
it was eerily quiet for such an event, watching people knock
each other out in super street fighter without much noise,
i wasn't there for the ending but they said the
tournament got a part 2, next week wednesday and thursday

it cant really open it to public though, else it'll drag
but they'll put up some previous works for them to decide
plus the progress works i think
so jon broke down the future weeks into certain categories
eco, arts and crafts, acg, taste, and pixel weeks
eco will have a lot of recycling
arts and crafts will have a lot of arts and crafts
acg will have a lot of anime comics and games
and pixel will have some pixel related stuffs
quite straightforward really
the viral marketing will start sometime soon
probably will take 10-14 days in all
there'll be one more garage sale this friday
oh, and there'll be that taksun talk next monday
so we'll only have at most 30 minutes for ourselves
and the week after that is our last monday class

which involves boxes, cds, complicating cameras and
possibly a power ranger act somewhere in the middle
one possible location for final exhibition
is MAP KL, i've no idea where that is
the people bidding system looks like it will be operational
oh yea, one type of fundraising will require recycling
so everyone don't throw away any newspapers or bottles or cans
finally, a simple credit system will be implemented
as long as everyone come and do some work on events
should be no problem

saturday - there'll be some meeting of the boards
(jon said either 130pm sat, 8pm sat or 2pm sun)
(dg ppl can come late if 130pm)
the rest of the ppl can continue sleeping or classing
last tuesday stephen had a meeting with jon and i (sofia was sick)
(i believe we all have the right to know what's going on)
so basically here are the points :
1, pr and event management division can have 5 more extra ppl
(they can elect them themselves but at least 1 from Interior Design)
2, photography division can have 3 more ppl
3, marketing division can also but not so important
4, we must set up some website (forum) where all can gather gather
most preferably MM ppl, or website team do wan
(zafri suggests when we register for the forum we must use our names and class)

when the forum goes online i'll post the link on the blog
5, by next week monday we must have a solid art direction and logo

Attached are those selected students that required to do presentation on week 12.
On top of that, I would like to send you details regarding to the submission (on week 13 the latest). Please refer to the following:
CD
- website root folder: consists of all of the web documents, images, artworks, media files, resume (.pdf and .jpg[optional]), etc.
- raw files folder: consists of all of the raw files related to the slicing of web design, and resume design (.psd, .ai, .docx, etc.)
- references folder: consists of resources and references that obtained during research and development (files, images, online URL, etc.) as credits for the resources
- readme file: if there is any notes you would like to highlight.
Workbook
- should have started with brief elaboration of the concept and or the theme chosen (e.g. the rationale of it)
- should have documented the whole progress of the research, design, and development for the portfolio website
- should have added with screenshots or thumbnails of websites (with URL provided) that had inspired you
- should have added with images that had inspired you
- should have added with sketches of the website design, one version or more than one versions, as well as the general site structure or grid system
- should have added with a few screenshots of final design of your portfolio website
- should have included brief descriptions and reflections throughout the whole progress
P.S: The content of workbook is not evaluated based on the quantity, but the quality. It doesn’t need to be very lengthy. The important thing is clarity of the research, design, and development progress.
And for the coming two weeks (week 12 and week 13), it is gonna be your show time. So get ready for the presentation. Everyone has to attend the session as support to your classmates though you are not presenting on that day. Those presenters do make sure you look smart during your presentation day with proper attire.

Hi DG078-1 Group 1,
I would like to inform about the cancelation of class on next week (3 Feb 2010) since I will be on sick leave for one week. Replacement class will be held on week 8 exploration week. So the next class will be on 10 Feb 2010, Monday.
For the second weekly evaluation on the week after next week (10 Feb 2010), basically you all have to improve and further develop your portfolio website based on the comments and feedbacks given from us (me and tutor) during the first weekly evaluation. For those who did not turn up for the first weekly evaluation, there will be no replacement anymore and you will get zero marks.
So for next round, basically you need to provide the following:
- propose new idea or refine the current idea (if you are advised to do so)
- continue doing research and to document every progress as well as development on workbook (e.g. references of websites, books, graphics, animations, navigation design, etc.)
- provide brief descriptions on workbook to explain on the research you have done (e.g. as in how those resources inspire you, etc.)
- provide more in depth or detail sketches that are able to show your proposed interface designs, layout designs, and navigation designs
- site map can be produced as well in order to show the overview of the website structure and hierarchy
- do think about the colors schemes of the site (e.g. you may design digital layout of your web pages using Illustrator and/or Photoshop)
